Earnings Reaction · Fiscal Q2 2027October 27, 2026 · reported after the close · videoconference 1:30 PM PT

A beat on every line — sales, gross margin, operating income well above the outlook — followed by a holiday-quarter guide that is down year over year because a supplier's fab is still ramping. The market sold the guide, not the quarter: −7% after hours.

Earnings reaction — beat the quarter, lost the holiday guide, −7% after hours. Fiscal Q2 sales $1,219M (+3% USD, +2% cc) vs. $1,212M; non-GAAP gross margin 45.2% (+140 bp); non-GAAP operating income $231M, flat y/y but well above the $185–210M outlook; non-GAAP EPS $1.51 vs. $1.33 (+4% y/y). Gaming +8%, Video Collaboration +12%, Keyboards and Pointing +4% each; Webcams −9%, Tablet Accessories −32%. Cash $1.51B, no debt, $406M returned (the annual dividend plus $171M of buybacks). Eleventh consecutive quarter of growth. The guide is the problem. One semiconductor supplier's facility closed at the end of June after an incident; it reopened in September but is below required capacity and is not expected at full output until calendar year-end. FQ3 (the holiday quarter) is guided to $1,360–1,430M, −5% to 0% y/y in constant currency, including a $70–80M supplier hit, with non-GAAP operating income of $220–255M — the Street was at ~$1.30B of revenue (so the revenue range is above consensus) but had EPS at $1.56, and last year's holiday quarter earned materially more operating income than the top of this range. Opex is also running hotter: 26.3% of sales vs. 24.4%, with marketing +10% for 19 new holiday products. Why −7%: a holiday quarter guided down y/y on operating income is a cut regardless of the cause, the supplier issue has now cost two quarters of guidance, and the beat was partly inventory-timing (inventory +$67M q/q, receivables +$245M since March). Non-GAAP EPS of $1.51 included roughly $0.08 of interest and other income on a stock that trades on operating income. 8.1% short at 48% implied vol had room to press it.
What the quarter said
| Line | FQ2 27 | FQ2 26 | Y/Y | Read |
|---|
| Net sales ($M) | 1,219 | 1,186 | +3% | +2% cc; Street $1,212M |
| Gaming ($M) | 349 | 323 | +8% | Largest category, still growing |
| Video Collaboration ($M) | 188 | 168 | +12% | The B2B leg |
| Tablet Accessories ($M) | 58 | 85 | −32% | Education cycle lapped |
| Non-GAAP gross margin | 45.2% | 43.8% | +140 bp | Mix + cost; tariff refunds not called out this Q |
| Non-GAAP opex (% sales) | 26.3% | 24.4% | +190 bp | Marketing +10%, R&D +9% |
| Non-GAAP op income ($M) | 231 | 230 | +0.4% | Guide was $185–210M |
| Non-GAAP EPS | $1.51 | $1.45 | +4% | Share count −3% y/y |
| Op cash flow ($M) | 164 | 229 | −28% | Inventory +$65M, receivables +$86M |
The quality of the beat is mixed. Gross margin did the work (+140 bp), but operating income was flat because opex grew 10% on 3% sales growth, and cash flow fell 28% on working capital. Logitech is spending into the holiday — 19 launches — while a supplier caps what it can ship. That is the right call if the products land in Q4; it is a margin problem if the supplier takes longer.
The one metric that matters
Holiday-quarter operating income against last year's. The $220–255M FQ3 guide is below the year-ago holiday quarter; the company says the $70–80M revenue hit is "largely resolved by Q4." The number that decides whether this is a one-quarter supply story or a demand story is FQ4 sales growth ex the supplier effect — if sell-through is intact and the fab is back, FQ4 catches up and FY27 is roughly whole; if Tablet (−32%) and Webcams (−9%) are the leading edge of a consumer slowdown, the supplier is cover.
Where it touches the threads
- Memory as a cost input. Logitech is downstream of the DRAM/NAND price spike; gross margin +140 bp with no memory-cost caveat says the exposure is small so far — watch for it in the FQ3 margin.
- Consumer at a 5% 10-year. Gaming +8% and Video Collaboration +12% say the core buyer is fine; Tablet −32% and Webcams −9% are the post-pandemic categories still normalizing.
- Tariffs: the Q1 release carried $61M of tariff refunds; none called out this quarter, so the 45.2% is cleaner than it looks on the comparison.
Valuation and scenarios
At $104.30 after hours the stock is ~$14.5B of market cap (139M shares) with $1.51B of cash and no debt; 18.0× FY27E ($5.80, fiscal year ends March 2027) and 17.2× FY28E ($6.06). Logitech has traded 15–22× through its post-pandemic range. Fair values are independent house estimates on FY28 earnings and a multiple that depends on whether the holiday quarter is supply- or demand-constrained.
Bull25% probability
$130+25%
- Supplier at full output by December; FQ4 sales +5% as the deferred ships
- Gaming and VC compound; GM holds 45%
- FY28 EPS ~$6.5 × 20×
Base50% probability
$108+4%
- FQ3 at the guide midpoint; FQ4 recovers most of the $70–80M
- FY27 EPS ~$5.7, FY28 ~$6.0
- 18× — the stock marks time
Bear25% probability
$85-19%
- Supplier slips into calendar Q1; holiday share lost to competitors
- Tablet/Webcam softness spreads; opex stays at 26%
- FY28 EPS ~$5.3 × 16× — toward the 52-wk low
Probability-weighted fair value
$108
vs. after-hours $104.30
+4%
Fairly priced after the drop. The after-hours move already discounts a holiday quarter that is down; the bear case needs the supplier to slip again.
What to watch
- FQ4 outlook commentary on the 1:30 PM PT videoconference — is the $70–80M deferred or lost
- Supplier ramp milestones through December
- Sell-through vs. sell-in for the 19 holiday launches
- Opex — does 26% of sales come back down in FQ4
- Memory cost language in the FQ3 margin guide
- Buyback pace with $1.51B cash and the stock −7%
The desk read: the quarter was better than the stock; the guide was worse than the Street; the supplier is the swing factor and it is out of management's hands. Levels: $100 and $92 below; $112 (close) and $118 above.
